Depending on which card the 'huge' die stopped upon, the students had to pronounce the correct word for the colour and the number on the die to get the impressive score of 100,000 points each time they did (children love big scores, apparently!). We also used colourful hand-made cardboard dice, which added to the fun.
Having in mind the family and number word groups, the young students had to remember the family member that matched each number, as shown in the picture. Then, the cards were turned upside down, giving the students the opportunity to pronounce simple sentences, like: 'Brother is number one'. If the answer was correct, the points gained amounted once again to 100,000 ones. Touching the numbers made of sponge and the excitement before turning each card resulted in great amusement, which in turn lowered the affective filter and led to the consolidation of the previously presented vocabulary.
