DISCUSSION ON E-BOOKS WITH TWO WRITERS

On Saturday 21 April, a wonderful meeting took place in the new premises of our school. The meeting was about e-books, their creation and development as well as the gadgets that are commonly used to read them. The presenters were two well-known local writers, Yannis Farsaris and Nicolas Smyrnakis.

The experience was amazing, since the afternoon was full of fruitful discussions and constructive comments. The advent of the Internet along with its implications on our everyday life (reading habits included) were also elaborated on, while the changing conditions in which writers have to produce their work surprised the audience.

Yannis presented the audience with the Kindle and
provided information about its benefits and general use.

Positive feedback after the first attempts at using this eReader.

Another popular e-book reader we talked about:
the iPad and its impressive new interactive iBooks.

Yannis also talked about www.openbook.gr
which he has created in order to collect
and promote quality Greek literature
which is distributed online without charge.

Nicolas focused more on the qualities of a competent writer
and how the latter is affected by cutting-edge technology.

Yannis, Nicolas and I after the presentation ended.
I can't thank them enough for everything they did!
