GEOCACHING

Our latest lessons with C' class students have to do with Geocaching and, since this is an entirely new concept to them, here is some online information coming from the official site of the game.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

Easy Steps to Geocaching

  1. Register for a free membership.
  2. Click "Hide & Seek a Cache."
  3. Enter your postal code and click "search."
  4. Choose any geocache from the list and click on its name.
  5. Enter the coordinates of the geocache into your GPS Device.
  6. Use your GPS device to assist you in finding the hidden geocache.
  7. Sign the logbook and return the geocache to its original location.
  8. Share your geocaching stories and photos online.

Find out more about how to get started on this page.

It is also interesting to read about the history of this global game.

How many words do you know about Geocaching? See the glossary of terms.

That is what Erika Jean Geocacher tells you on YouTube:
You've arrived in my back yard looking for a cache.
Your GPS is bouncing all over the place.
Time to do some old fashioned looking...
Are you up to the challenge?

Now describe the location of a cache in your town.
